Christmas 2010 or Who was supposed to be taking pictures??

So silly me. I kept thinking I had tons of photos to upload so I kept putting off blogging. Boy was I wrong! Apparently I forgot I was supposed to be taking pictures. Although I think Dean had the camera during the Christmas present part......

A few weeks before Christmas my mom usually makes sugar cookies with the girls. This year they did it at my house. Aric usually helps with the cookies, but he had to work that morning so I did the cookies and he came over later to decorate. The girls had a blast! Although Alexandra had to keep washing her hands over and over because she'd lick them anytime she got frosting or sprinkles on them.

Scarlett got to join in the fun too. Although she liked when we were making the cookies better. Mom gave her a piece of dough and at first she touched it and said "Yucky!" but then Mom shoved a little bit in her mouth and from then on she kept wanting more "Yum!Yum!" It was cute you'd give her a little piece and she'd sit and dance while she ate it.
Dean's work schedule went all crazy the week of Christmas. We had planned to do Christmas Eve Brunch with his family and then Christmas morning with mine. He was supposed to go in at 2 pm both days. But the graveyard shift had people call in and go on leave, so his shift had to rearrange to help cover. So Dean ended up working graves on Christmas Eve and then he would get off at 6am Christmas day and have to be back to work by 2 pm on Christmas. So knowing that he was going to need all that time to sleep we celebrated Christmas on Christmas Eve.

His family came over in the morning and we had brunch and opened presents and had a great time just visiting. Then later that afternoon I put the ham in the oven and got everything ready for dinner and then my family came over and we did stockings and then presents and then had Christmas dinner. It was a great day!

Scarlett was still down for a nap when my parents and Aric got there, so I'd let the girls open their stockings. Then when she got up she opened hers (with help). Her two favorite gifts were in the stocking. She got Super Why Sippy cups. Which she loves!!!
And this little glowworm baby. I remember having glowworms when I was little. She loves her baby! And when you press her belly her face lights up and she sings.
Scarlett's big presents were wooden puzzles. She loves to sit and take them apart and try to put them back together. She's gotten pretty good at putting them back, but she loves when someone will sit with her and help her.

Alexandra's big present was a microscope. The rest of her presents were all science-y stuff, like slides and science project kits. We had a great time on Christmas playing with all her kits (and making a mess!)
Riley's big present was a huge art kit. It's a huge storage kit that turns into an easel, plus it came PACKED with supplies. She has had a blast painting. And so far she's been really good about keeping it all cleaned up and out of reach of Scarlett. I was really worried since the kit has oil and acrylic paints in it.

It was an awesome day and I loved that we were able to spend Christmas just relaxing and playing with their new stuff.

Nan got me some toe socks....And I have to say they look super cute on me!

  1. I love the toe socks! Christmas is so much fun when you are watching the little ones, that is what the whole gift thing is about. I hope your holidays were wonderful, I miss all of you!
