1st Amusement Park rides

Image
So yesterday we took the girls to the amusement park near us that gives out tickets for summer reading at the library. We'll get to go another time (if not two more times). Yay for 3 different libraries near me!!! We decided we would go and try with Scarlett to see if she would be okay on the little kid rides. The next time we go, we'll get a sitter for Scarlett and Dean and I will get tickets and ride the big rides with Riley and Alexandra. Scarlett loved it! Unless we put her on a ride that had any sort of up and down motion. By the 3rd ride that went up and down she started screaming, so we avoided those from then on. She loved the horses. She loved the boats - and yes Alexandra loves them too, even though she doesn't look like it. She sat like that for every ride and would ask to ride again. She loved the racing cars. She did not like the motorcycles (they had little up and down hills.) She liked the carousel. By this time we knew about the up and down - so we ...

2 year check-up

So we're only almost a month late getting into see the doctor. Between school ending and vacation, I just kept forgetting to call. So here's her stats - 32.5 lbs and 35 3/4" - I don't remember what the percentiles were. The doctor usually writes them down so I wasn't paying full attention. They were both somewhere in the 90's though. She is doing great developmentally! The doctor even commented on how we didn't even have to account for her premie-ness. She is either where she is supposed to be or above. In the little question form you fill out you're supposed to give examples of them talking in sentences and things like that. I didn't put this down but I kinda wanted to - We were on the way to the doctors office when I heard her say something that sounded like crap (cwap) so I asked her what she said. "I said cwap Mommy!" I think that also worked for the question about does she understand when you ask her questions....

Colorado Springs Vacation

Back in March, Alexandra kept asking if we could go on vacation this summer. (Really she just wanted to go and stay in a hotel somewhere, like we did last year for the family reunion.) So we talked and decided that we would go to Colorado Springs! So we looked at the vacation bid for Dean's work and the ONLY time he could take off in summer was Wednesday and Thursday last week. So we booked the hotel and planned away. On Monday we left at about nap time (hoping for a nap for the whole drive, didn't happen though.) And we went to Cave of the Winds. Alexandra had been so excited for this, but when we entered the cave she started to get a little scared. I asked her if she could be brave and be my photographer for the whole tour. Which helped her overcome her fears. I must say - although they say it's a family friendly tour (including toddlers) it really isn't. Or at least for us it wasn't. Scarlett was fine as long as we were moving. But we had to stop in e...

Two!!!

Today is Scarlett's birthday! I can't believe 2 years have passed. It goes by so quickly. My dad was in town this weekend so we celebrated her birthday on Monday so he could watch her open her presents. We did her outdoor presents first since the weather was looking kinda iffy. She got a sand box, which she loves. Every day she asks to go play in the "box!" She tried climbing in, but then her feet touched the sand and she wasn't so sure about that, so now she sits outside of it. Even Riley and Alexandra love her present! She also got a bubble blower. Because I'm lazy. And I hate bubble solution all over my fingers. She loves ABC's. So she got a few alphabet toys. I LOVE the fridge phonics one. I love watching her dance to the song. She wasn't too sure about the candles, but she has been singing "Happy Birthday to Scarlett" ever since Monday. It's so cute! I'm not sure that I'm ready for the "Terrible Twos". ...

One of the race tracks here does a reading program with schools called Race to Read. The kids read and color in pages and win prizes. One of the prizes is tickets to their race called Night of Fire and Thunder. They also have "grand prizes" for each schools top reader in K-2 and 3-6. Alexandra won the top reader prize for K-2 for her school. She got a gift bag at the race and her name in lights. Dean took them to the race that night. I'm very proud of my little reader!! Scarlett still loves shoes. These are Alexandra's rain boots. Scarlett has discovered mega blocks and she loves them! She will sit forever putting them together and taking them apart.
