Last Nights "Fun" Adventure

So the time has come....apparently for me to start getting to know the hospital staff once again. Last night I had to go into the hospital because I was having contractions. I woke up from a nap about 2:30 with a weird pain in my side. So I tried laying down hoping that the pain was just a weird growing pain or something. It was a constant pain and there wasn't any cramping or anything, so I wasn't sure what was going on. At 11:00 as I'm trying to go to sleep and the pain still isn't going anywhere I notice that about every 5 minutes my belly keeps getting tight. So I time it for a little while to see how constant it is, and it's between 4-5 minutes apart. So I get up and call Kaiser while Dean calls my mom. Kaiser tells me to go to a different hospital than the one that I'm supposed to deliver at since that hospital won't take anyone under 30 weeks. So on the car ride down, the contractions are getting stronger and have become 3 minutes apart. We get into L...

My Irrational Fears

Now maybe this is normal, but since I'm not really sure what a "normal" pregnancy should be I have no idea. But lately I have worries about everything. Mostly it has to do with the baby being born healthy. When I told Dean about them the other night, he was like "Wow, I had no idea you had that much that you were worried about". So here's my list. #1 - Driving in the car. It scares me to death now. I really have no reason for it to scare me since I have never had a car accident. But every time I'm behind the wheel all I can think about is what if someone hits me. I'm wearing a seat belt and that could hurt the baby. If the airbag goes off, that could hurt the baby. Let alone if it's a really bad accident.... #2 - I can't open any of the stuff we've bought for the baby. And this is so unlike me, I love to open stuff and put it together. But this time all I can think of is I can't open it, what if something happens to the baby. We can...

My Smart Girls

First I would like to show off Alexandra's knowledge of things scientific! The first time she told me about this was in the car, and she actually had the numbers correct then. When I asked her where she learned it she told me "On Qubo" - Qubo is a stupid channel that I hate - we started getting it when I hooked up the converter boxes to our antennas - it's like an infomercial with cartoons in between. But now I guess I can't hate it too bad since she learned something cool. Now this interesting fact she told Dean and I as we were walking into the house and she was looking at the sky. Yep, she's just one smart kid!! Now for my Riley. She was invited to a birthday party which will be on a Sunday. I have been dreading something like this happening. It also happens to be a party for her "best" friend. So we've had the invitation for a few days now and I've been trying to figure out how to tell her that she couldn't go. So 2 nights ago she pic...

Things I Miss!

This past week I've been feeling like a crappy mom. And I know I'm not, it's just I'm not able to do ANYTHING, and this week it just hit me kinda hard. I know that I'm being "lazy" for a good reason, actually a great reason, (I can't wait to see this little girl) but still it doesn't keep me from having a pity party. So here's my pity post! I miss playing with my girls! And yes I still play with them, but it's just different. I don't get to run and chase them around the house. I haven't gotten to play with them in the snow. I don't get to help Alexandra with her bike riding. I don't get to take them places very much anymore, and that could be just because I can't walk all around or because when it gets to about 5: oo at night I'm just ready for bed. I miss walking Riley to her door at school in the morning and then waiting for her after school. I miss letting the girls play on the playground or ride their s...

28 Week Appointment

Tuesday I had my 28 week appointment, which meant it was time for the glucose test. I HATE this test. I'm hypoglycemic (as most of you know) and it's just not fun for me to drink all that sugar and not have anything to balance it out. I spent all day trying to get my blood sugar back to normal. I felt horrible all day long and no matter what I ate it didn't seem to help. Which made me very worried that the test might come back positive (I don't know if that's the correct term, but I couldn't think of another) and then I'd have to take the 3 hour-fasting-draw your blood every 30 mins-test which is even worse!! I've only had to do that test once and it was one of the worst days ever. I was crying hysterically and shaking and freezing, and they couldn't draw my blood. It took them 30 minutes one of the times for them to get my blood. The nurse told me she was so sorry. And I went through all of that so that my doctor at that time could verify ...

Easter

Image
The Saturday before Easter the girls dyed Easter eggs. Alexandra drew on every single egg! Which is huge for her, since usually when she draws she ends up crying because it's not as good as Riley's. She made an egg with every one's picture. When she did mine she told me "Hold still, I need to look at your face!" Then she did an egg with all of us on it (including the baby!) It was so stinking cute! I tried to take pictures of her eggs, but they just wouldn't turn out. The crayon markings were too faint so the camera wouldn't focus on them. This year it was kinda funny, Riley would copy Alexandra (usually it's the other way around). When Alexandra did a family egg, the next egg Riley did was a family egg. This happened several times. They had a great time and surprisingly no messes were made!! Yeah for them getting bigger and being able to do it on their own (mostly)! That night I picked out two of Riley's eggs to eat and when Alexandra...

Happy 5th Birthday!

Image
Wednesday (April Fool's Day) was Alexandra's birthday! And she is now.... 5!!! I can't believe how fast the time has gone. For her birthday she wanted to go swimming, so we went to a really cool rec center that she had never been to. We had to go in the morning because Dean had to go to work. Grammy was able to go with us and we had a blast. Since the bleeding has stopped (knock on wood) I was able to go swimming with them. It was so much fun. Alexandra wouldn't go down any of the slides, but she loved going around the lazy river in a tube (as long as one of us was with her). Then we went home and had lunch and she got to open her presents. Don't mind the lack of hair being done...we'd just been swimming! Grammy got her a Webkinz mouse. (Grammy has one and Alexandra always wants to play with it, so now she has one of her own!) Grammy got her some easy reader Dr. Seuss books. She is already reading! Which is amazing since none of us have "tau...

Tag!

Image
Ok, I have been horrible lately about anything tagged, but since this was an easy one.... I was tagged by my friend Joanna on her blog to do this: Go to the 6th folder on your computer and post the 6th picture. This was Riley running at field day this year! That was such a fun day, especially since they let Alexandra participate (sorta).

Tuesday at the Zoo

So I had promised the girls that we would go to the zoo during spring break, but we had to go on the days that Dean was off from work (so he could push me in a wheelchair). Which meant either 30 degree Monday or 40 degree Tuesday. So we chose Tuesday. Unfortunately not only was it 40 degrees, it was windy, and not a nice warm spring wind, no a holy crap that is cold wind. I have never gone through the zoo so quickly (thank goodness we have a zoo membership so it's free!) It was fun though because a lot of the animals were up and moving, especially all the cats and hyenas. We only got through about 2/3's of the zoo before both girls decided they were done. We did get to see the elephants up close since they had them inside and the girls thought that was fun. Especially watching one of the elephants sucking up water with his trunk. It was so loud, and he kept flicking his trunk around, I seriously thought he might spray us (or the other elephant).
