Roller Skating and New Glasses

Image
Here is my flower child! She was very crafty with some string and a flower from the backyard. We picked up Riley's new glasses on Wednesday. Her old ones got lost on the 4 th of July. She took them off to bounce on the trampoline and we have never been able to find them. Luckily I was able to get her into the eye doctor (usually they are booked solid the weeks before school starts) and she got to pick out her new pair. They look cute on her and she really likes them. Plus they are "Rock Star Red!" Which is more of a pinky color to me...but it sounds cooler to say "Rock Star Red!" Wednesday we also went roller skating. Thanks again free library coupons!! Riley has been a couple times for birthday parties but this was Alexandra's first time skating. The first time around the rink (holding my hand) she told me "I am not having a fun time." So we went around to the exit and she went out for a bit on the carpet, then we went back in and s...

Yesterday was my postpartum check-up. My blood pressure is back to normal! 122/68! I did have blood drawn to check and make sure that my hematocrit is back to normal. I will find out about that probably tomorrow. I'm down to only 4 more pounds to lose till I'm back to prepregnancy weight! Which is awesome since I haven't been exercising at all. I also had to take a little test to check for postpartum depression (which came back fine). I have to say though that this is the best I've ever felt after a pregnancy. I don't know if it's because I'm already on Prozac, or because I'm getting more sleep since she's a bottle baby, or just the combination of the two. I must say it is so nice to roll over and tap Dean on the shoulder and say "It's your turn". I never could do that with the other two, and it's been amazing! Plus Dean has been amazing by being willing to get up when I tap him! Plus we've been able to go and do things - like...

Unconditional Love

Last night, well more accurately early this morning, while I was up feeding Scarlett, I was just hit by how much I love this little girl. And it just struck me as odd how that works. We just automatically love our babies. It's what helps us get up at 2 in the morning to feed them. It's what makes cleaning up baby poop not that horrible. Don't get me wrong, it's still gross, but I wouldn't be cleaning up after anyone else. It's what helps us survive colic (Jami you're amazing!) It makes the horrible side effects from pregnancy and labor seem not that bad. I must admit thinking I was in the worst pain ever during the end of labor, but yet now I can't really remember exactly how horrible it was. I remember thinking it was horrible...but not remembering the actual pain. (Which is how most of us end up getting pregnant more then once...) I find it odd, because when anyone else enters our lives we have to get to know them before we even just like the...

Funny Faces

Image
So I was trying to be the "good mom" and take more pictures this week, but Scarlett just wouldn't pose for "pretty pictures". But these just make me laugh, so I thought I'd share them with you. "Let me outta here!!" "Please no more pictures!" "Help!!!! Alexandra's got me!!!" "Ahhhh! There's my thumb!" "Okay Mom, that's enough!"

Day of Firsts

Yesterday I got to see Scarlett's first real smile! It was brief, but I saw it!! She makes the best faces ever. She's got the "That's yucky" face down pat. She has this "Ooooo" face that is just cute. But I have been waiting very impatiently for a smile and finally got one! Also we had a 5 hour break between feedings last night!!! Although it scared the crap out of me. She has been on a 3 hour schedule that you could almost set a timer to. So when she got up at 2 to eat I mentally thought ok, I'll be back up at 5 and then at 8. So when I woke up at 7 I freaked out and had to run in and check on her. She was in her swing so very hard to check for breathing, but I touched her hand and she grabbed my finger - so with a sigh of relief I went back in to bed for about 10 more minutes. Her other hand had been up by her mouth, so I wonder if she found her thumb and that's why she slept so good. She tries to take pacifiers but she doesn't really like ...

Last Week

So things have been going really well for the most part. Scarlett is such a good baby! We are now to bottles only though. She just kept getting worse and worse with nursing, and then my milk started to dramatically decrease. So I sat down and thought about it and I felt really good about just doing bottles. I'm not upset that I can't nurse her (which I think is kinda unusual - but also it makes me feel like this is the right decision). I had such a hard time with post- partum depression after Alexandra, and then with nursing I could never get away from her (she wouldn't take a bottle at all) and that just made everything worse. So I think Heavenly Father has just planned that Scarlett would be a bottle baby for my sanity, and so that I can enjoy my time with her. I stopped pumping on Sunday and I can already tell that I am getting so much more sleep. I'm not drop dead tired midway through the day anymore, and I'm able to make dinner!! (I had been napping and sleep...
