Last Week
So things have been going really well for the most part. Scarlett is such a good baby! We are now to bottles only though. She just kept getting worse and worse with nursing, and then my milk started to dramatically decrease. So I sat down and thought about it and I felt really good about just doing bottles. I'm not upset that I can't nurse her (which I think is kinda unusual - but also it makes me feel like this is the right decision). I had such a hard time with post-partum depression after Alexandra, and then with nursing I could never get away from her (she wouldn't take a bottle at all) and that just made everything worse. So I think Heavenly Father has just planned that Scarlett would be a bottle baby for my sanity, and so that I can enjoy my time with her. I stopped pumping on Sunday and I can already tell that I am getting so much more sleep. I'm not drop dead tired midway through the day anymore, and I'm able to make dinner!! (I had been napping and sleeping through dinnertime most days) I feel so much better and like actually accomplishing things around the house. Yesterday we cleaned and moved furniture around!
4th of July was fun. We went over to my sister-in-law's house to have dinner and watch the fireworks. Her backyard backs up to the field/open space where the fireworks go off, so we have a front row seat for the fireworks. It's awesome! Scarlett slept the best she has ever slept. There was so much noise and it was just like a lullaby for her. She woke up for a bottle right before the fireworks and then fell back asleep during them.
We've moved her into her own room (yesterday - hence part of the furniture moving and cleaning) since I'm not nursing her (which was mostly why she was going to be in my room). So now we're working on making her room noisy (cd player and fan) so that maybe she'll sleep really good for me.
This was Riley's first time ever feeding a baby! Scarlett usually chokes at some point during her feeding so I haven't been comfortable letting Riley try to give her a bottle. But this day she had stayed up for a while after feeding and only wanted just a little more before going to sleep so I thought we'd give Riley a shot. She loved it!
Last week we also set up the tent in the backyard for the girls to get to go "camping" since I have no plans on doing that this year with a baby. I have a video of when they got home from going to the library with Grammy to see the tent all set up, but so far after 3 hours it still has not downloaded, I don't know why, but maybe I'll try again later.
Alexandra's Antic for the day - Both girls were playing with Scarlett while I was getting her bottle ready. Alexandra had two webkinz - a cat and a dog - and she had them on either side of her head, so when she would turn to the right the dog would "bark" at her and when she would turn to the left the cat would "meow". I was changing her diaper when the cat started "hissing" at Scarlett. I told Alexandra not to hiss at Scarlett and she told me "but she grabbed her whiskers and that's what cat's do when you do that to them!".
