Someone Slept Through the Night!

Since Dean works 2pm to 2am, he's been staying on that schedule even on his days off to take the middle of the night feeding so that I can possibly get a decent nights sleep (as long as Scarlett cooperates). Dean will stay up till about 3:30 waiting for her but if she wakes after that then she's mine. Or if she wakes up before he gets home from work. But she's been really good about waking between 2 and 3 (I think she's enjoying having some Daddy time.) Also since he's home, if Scarlett is still asleep during school drop off time (7:45) or Kindergarten pick up time (10:30) I will just leave her sleeping and turn the monitor on for him. So Wednesday morning she hadn't woken up by the time we needed to leave for school. I could tell she was about to get up because I could hear her starting to make noise. So I hurried and dropped the girls off and came home and she was just waking up when I got home. I got her up and changed the fullest diaper she's ever had (1...

1st Day of School - For Real This Time!

Image
So today was the "Real" 1st day of school. Here are pictures of the girls in their new "Grammy-Made Dresses". If you click on the picture (it should give you a big picture) you can see the designs on the material better. Alexandra's is an ABC Raggedy Ann and Andy print (perfect for a 1st day at school dress - I think I had one that was black with ABC's on it one year too!) and Riley's has dragonflies (bugs for our Riley-bug.) And they did a flag ceremony again this year. Here are pictures of Alexandra. And I had trouble finding Riley in the huge crowd of kids, but I got a picture of her as they were headed back to their classrooms. They both had great days! Although Alexandra was upset at the end of her day. They had homework over the weekend to put 5 items in a brown lunch bag for a show-and-tell about themselves. Well, what show-and-tell about Alexandra would be complete without some sort of Pokemon? They didn't get through the whole class, so they...

Lucky Charms

Image
For those of you who know me from my before being married days, you may recall how much I loved Lucky Charms. I could (and did) eat them all the time. They were one of my favorite foods ever! Well, I got married and had kids and became poor and so all I have been buying has been: And while I was trying to gag them down, I thought to myself "Maybe I have outgrown my love of Lucky Charms". So I stopped trying to eat those horrible fake imitations. Then a few days ago while I was shopping, Sams didn't have the huge boxes of Marshmallow Mateys, so I bought: I made Alexandra a bowl yesterday morning and thought to myself, I'll just try a few. OH MY GOODNESS!! Lucky Charms are still magically delicious!!!!!! Now while Malt-O-Meal may try to imitate some of the other name brand cereals and do a fairly good job, they apparently have never tasted Lucky Charms compared to theirs. I have had 3 bowls since yesterday and I now remember why I used to eat them all the time! I...

Favorite Outfit & My Little Movie Director

Image
Even though this is a sad face, I had to show it off! This outfit is one of my favorites!!! I got it from my Aunt Cami when Riley was born. So Riley has worn it, Alexandra has worn it, and now Scarlett gets to wear it too!!!!! I was trying to get a video of Scarlett either smiling or talking. Here is the closest I got: The rest of these videos are productions of Alexandra. She is quite the little director! "Can you put it on your blog?" "Cut!" "Now zoom in!" If you listen close when she sings Rock-a-bye Baby she says "Rock a my baby". I love that! It just makes me think that she's claiming Scarlett as hers. There were other videos that Alexandra shot, but I will not post them because it shows how messy my house is. (It's been a rough week for Mommy!)

1st "Non-official" Day of School

Image
So Thursday was Alexandra's 1st day of school (but not officially). Yes the Pokemon obsession continues! And Friday was Riley's 1st day of school (not officially). This year when the district planned the schedule they put the flex (testing) days at the beginning of the year. They were supposed to use these days to schedule individual testing for the kids....well I don't know what happened, but no testing and it ended up being a half day for both girls. Their official 1st day of school is Monday (and they should have new dresses from Grammy to wear too!) Alexandra cried while we were waiting in line. She didn't want to go and be "by herself". Which almost made me cry. With all the time we have been at the school (PTA, school parties, and various other things) I really didn't feel that she was going to have any issues. But apparently it's not the same being at the school without Mommy. When we picked her up she said that Kindergarten was GREA...

The Faire

Image
Every summer our city has a Faire. Last Saturday was when this year's was. Mostly it's a bunch of vendor booths with people either trying to sell stuff or politicians handing out fliers. But most of the booths have FREE stuff!!! Which I love! Plus they have free inflatable bouncy things for the kids. Johanna and her girls came with me. This is all the girls bouncing together. And my two going down the slide. We also made free things from Home Depot. They had their build something kits out and every kid got to pick one. I didn't take pictures of them because I didn't finish them. The girls picked castle banks and they had TONS of pieces, so we put them in the bottom of the stroller and had Dean help put them together a couple of days ago. Johanna was smart and picked a tray with only 4 pieces, so her's got built and painted. We came home with bags full of free stuff. Here is some of the stuff we got for free: water bottles, reusable bags (nice ones!), wei...

Doctor's Appointments

Wednesday both Alexandra and Scarlett had their well-baby/kid check-ups. They are both doing great and the little things I was worried about are either normal or can be fixed, so no big deal!! Scarlett was 11 lbs 13.4 oz and 22.75" long. She is in the 64th% for her weight and the 51th% for her height. It was so odd for me to hear that she was in the 50-60's, both Riley and Alexandra were always 98th% (one time Alexandra even was off the chart!) Her spitting up is normal and the doctor told me to keep doing the things I'm already doing. Which made me feel good! It's always nice to have a doctor tell you that you are doing the right things as a mom! We are still keeping her on the 24 calorie formula mixture, but I do get to switch from the Neosure to whatever formula I want!!! So cheaper for my budget!!! Her doctor was very impressed by how much she's growing and just wants to keep her going that way, versus letting her have regular formula and risking her l...

Art Museum

Image
Tuesday we went to the Art Museum. I wasn't sure what to expect since I've never been there, but it was actually quite fun. Because it's summer they had more things for the kids to do. They had backpacks with activities in them for the different exhibits, plus they have things in most of the exhibits for them to do. The girls got to create a sculpture with magnets. The final activity in the 1st backpack we used was making crocodile boxes. This is one of the sculpture pieces we saw. It's like a whole dining room with the foxes all over. It was cool! You could barely see the wires holding the jumping ones. In a wild west exhibit they had a whole section of stuff for the kids to do. They had cowboy (or as Alexandra pointed out to Grammy "COWGIRL") hats to wear. A saddle to ride on. This was one of my favorite pieces. I just thought it was cool looking! Alexandra loved the crowns they had. The green tiara was her favorite. They had another section that ...

Catching Up

Image
So the next few post are me getting caught up. We had a very busy weekend. We're doing very good. Although trying to figure out how to manage my time is getting to be quite the challenge. Riley and Alexandra are going through Mommy withdrawal, and trying to get everything done in between feedings and still finding time to do individual things with them is harder than I thought. But hopefully as Scarlett gets better with eating and naps those will get easier to manage. Scarlett is doing good. I've been meaning to step on the scale with her, but I keep forgetting when she's up. Although we go in next Wednesday for her and Alexandra's appointments (ewwwww - shots for both of them) so I'll know how much she weighs then. I'm hoping they take her off of the preemie formula. I would really like to be able to buy the generic kind at Sams and save me tons of money!!!!! Unfortunately there is no generic for the preemie kind.... But I'm also hoping that she c...

County Fair

Image
On Tuesday we went to a county fair with Johanna and her two girls. They had free activities set aside for the kids. First the kids got to meet the county fair Queen and her Lady-In-Waiting as they signed up for the Kiddeo Rodeo. Then they got to make their stick horses for the rodeo. This is Kylee with her horse. Super cute!! Here is Riley doing her barrel race. I was going to get a video of it, but when they called her name she took off running and I could barely get my camera out and on before she was done. But I did manage to get a video of Alexandra's barrel race. The other events they could have done were calf roping (with a hula-hoop and a hay bale cow) or bull riding. We didn't stick around to see the bull riding so not really sure how they did that. The girls were done with watching once they got their turn. So we went through the exhibition building till Scarlett proceeded to yack all over herself. Then we went to see the different animals they still had out. ...
