Library Summer Reading Programs
Saturday was the last day of the summer reading program at the library (or should I say libraries...we do two libraries cuz I have two different ones close to me - so more free stuff for us to do!) One of the libraries has a party on the last day. The kids get to make crafts and play and pick out their book for their final reward. The crafts the girls got to do this year included making masks, making dancing streamers, making a noise shaker (paper plate folded in half with beans in it), and making a creative pocket (old library pockets for due date cards being recycled as book marker holders). They also got to splatter paint on huge paper, draw with sidewalk chalk, and get a tattoo. Riley said that this year was the best ever!
Here are pictures of them with their masks and streamers. I forgot the camera so I didn't get any pictures at the library.

Here's Alexandra's tattoo. Now while you might think "Harry Potter", those of you who know Alexandra know that this is really Pikachu.

And here are the books they picked. I must say that I am jealous of the girls. They got to go into a huge room full of books and pick out whatever one they wanted. It was like getting a free book in a book store. Poor Riley had the hardest time deciding.
I must say I love Library reading programs. They need to have more rewards for the adult reading programs though...like picking a free book!

Also I just want to applaud all those companies that give out free coupons to reading programs! It makes our summer lots more fun. Plus they also get some of my money that they wouldn't get otherwise (since it's usually the girls free and I have to pay for me and Dean), so it's a very wise business move for them. (Believe me I wouldn't be going to Lakeside at all if it weren't for free coupons - and those of you who have been to Lakeside know why...)
