Dean is Medium!

You can tell that school is in session.....too many germs are coming home with my girls. They were sick last week and now I'm sick too. I hate being sick. I wish there was a shot you could get to never ever be sick ever again. Even if you had to have it every week, I'd be all for it! When I get sick it just seems to last forever, my immune system is just too slow. So today in Relief Society we were talking about trials and why we have them. I was thinking to myself, my trial today is that I had to get up this morning and go to church (because I didn't feel good). And then someone mentioned that a lot of the trials we go through are ones that we do to ourselves, not ones that Heavenly Father gives us. And then I felt that my trial of getting up today was one I created myself. I say this because last week (when it was my birthday) I had been up late Saturday night because we had family in town and I decided that since it was my birthday I was gonna sleep in. (I kno...

First Field Trip

Image
So today was Alexandra's first field trip with her Joy School class. They got to go to an Albertson's and have a tour. They had a great time, little things are always cool to 3 and 4 year olds. Here is her class in front of the lobster tank. They got out a lobster for them to see. None of the kids wanted to get anywhere near the lobster. Eventually Alexandra did pet it, but she was so quick I couldn't get a picture. They got to go back in the bakery and watch some cookies get decorated. They were so funny, everytime the baker would get a different color of frosting they would all say how it was their favorite color. And they all got to be pretend cashiers! Alexandra had a little trouble though she kept putting her hand on the bar code so that it couldn't scan. They did get to go back behind the store through all the coolers and stuff. And at the end they had little bags of treats for them. They got a juice box, cheese stick, apple, and a couple of pieces of can...

You know your kids like school way to much when...

So this morning when the alarm clock rang, Dean told me that he had heard Riley coughing all night and didn't think she'd be well enough for school. So I went into her room and woke her up and asked how she was feeling - "Great!" was her reply. So I got all of the clothes together and got ready myself then had the girls come downstairs for breakfast. As they were eating breakfast all I hear is coughing and sneezing and snuffling from both of them. So they get done eating and come into the living room to get dressed and Alexandra's nose is so runny and she feels like she's running a low grade temp. So I ask her if she feels sick and wants to stay home today. She adamantly says she is fine and wants to go to school. So after getting them both dressed and their hair done, and going through probably 10 tissues in this short period of time, I veto both of them and tell them they are not going to school today. Which upsets both of them.....whatever happened ...

Crazy Camera Lady

Image
I am soooo tired. When you are used to going to bed at 9:00ish and then you don't go to bed till midnightish...not the best idea. I had a great time going to the movies with my sisters-in-law and niece. We went and saw The Women. It was an ok flick, but it was made all the more better by the company. I still had to be up super early this morning too, because I volunteered in Riley's class today. Which was a good time, although I felt like a horrible parent at the end. Riley woke up coughing and had a runny nose this morning and I thought she was just faking how bad it was (plus she only has 3 days of school this week) so I made her get ready and go, and by the time my volunteer time was up she was feeling pretty crappy and was starting to run a temperature. So she got to go home with me. Poor thing. So it was a great day yesterday! As I may have already mentioned. The one thing I really wanted I got (the camera) and I got some money to get other things I want (books, and maybe ...

30!!!!

Image
Happy Birthday to me!!! Well, I must admit I felt that turning 30 was going to be a pretty big deal. But, alas, I do not feel old...well, that old anyway. It has been a really good day today, and yesterday too. I really like birthdays, and not just mine either (I'm not selfish). I just love having a day that's all about that person. In my family we've always had a family dinner on everyone's birthday and the birthday person gets to pick what we eat. Tonight my brother made me a really good Chinese stir-fry with Chicken that he marinated with Pepsi (and other stuff too, but he wouldn't tell me what). I just love making birthdays all about the birthday person. I know sometimes it's frustrating for Dean since he didn't grow up with all the hoopla, but I love it. I don't have a lot of time to write tonight. I'm going to go out to the movies with Annie, Teri, and Jen (yes I know it's 9:30....I'm gonna be so tired tomorrow. But I just wanted to ex...

Ready for the weekend!

I'm so glad this week is done. Busy busy me! Although I'm not really looking forward to tomorrow either.....laundry....yuck! It was a good week though, just way too fast! Joy school is going great. Alexandra loves it. In fact she tries to hide from me when I try to pick her up. Thursday she wouldn't tell me anything that she had done though, she wanted to wait till Riley came home, and then "I can't remember" was all I heard. Although they did get to cut and glue construction paper and she made me a "Magazine". This week though she has been driving me crazy. She has got this attitude lately, I hope it's not caused by getting a little independence going to school by herself. Today we had to go grocery shopping (payday) and she got mad at me and threw a fit because she didn't like my idea, she wanted to do her own (which was go home and watch Curious George). And if I hear the phrase "That's BORING!" one more time............... R...

Alexandra's First Day of Joy School!

Image
When I woke up the girls this morning the first thing Alexandra says to me is "Guess what today is." She then answered in one of the happiest voices I've ever heard from her - "It's the 2 day! Joy school is today!" (Two day is how she says the date - we have a dry erase calendar we write our activities on and she knows her numbers so it helps her to know when we're doing stuff) Here is a picture of her with her "school supplies". She is so excited!! And here she is getting ready to go into Joy school! She was great until I told her goodbye, then she was hanging on me and asking me to stay....until she noticed that the other kids where going to the playroom to play. Then it didn't matter. In fact when I showed up to pick her up the first words out of her mouth were "Can I stay a little longer?" And here is her first craft from school! They took crayon shavings (although she keeps telling me that it was not crayons - they were spri...

I snagged my mom's camera!

Image
So I borrowed my mom's camera for Alexandra's first day of joy school tomorrow, but in the process I have taken pictures and thought I'd post a few. Mainly it was to add pics to my last post, but I just couldn't stop there. Here is one of the girls painting with Uncle Aric. And here is a rare one of Aric smiling!!! Granted I was poking him while mom took the picture.

Sharing

Yesterday at church, Alexandra got a bag of animal crackers to take home. When we got home Riley asked me if I liked her picture she had made at church and of course I told her yes. Alexandra not to be outdone asks me if I like her bag of animal crackers. I tell her yes and ask if she will share one with me. She looks at me and then says she will share a little tiny bit. After waiting a while as she is digging around in the bag looking, I ask her if she is going to give me one. She replies "I can't find any crummies ." So she has learned to share, but only the parts she doesn't want. She did eventually give me a cookie, but told me I could only have a tiny bite then I had to give it back. Aric and my mom came over to get the girls yesterday so they could have a sleep over since Riley didn't have school today. Now it has been quite a while since my brother has been over and Tiger wasn't sure what to make of him. For those of you who haven't seen my brothe...
