30!!!!

Happy Birthday to me!!!

Well, I must admit I felt that turning 30 was going to be a pretty big deal. But, alas, I do not feel old...well, that old anyway. It has been a really good day today, and yesterday too. I really like birthdays, and not just mine either (I'm not selfish). I just love having a day that's all about that person. In my family we've always had a family dinner on everyone's birthday and the birthday person gets to pick what we eat. Tonight my brother made me a really good Chinese stir-fry with Chicken that he marinated with Pepsi (and other stuff too, but he wouldn't tell me what). I just love making birthdays all about the birthday person. I know sometimes it's frustrating for Dean since he didn't grow up with all the hoopla, but I love it. I don't have a lot of time to write tonight. I'm going to go out to the movies with Annie, Teri, and Jen (yes I know it's 9:30....I'm gonna be so tired tomorrow. But I just wanted to express how great today was for me. It's always nice when you can look back on your day and just be happy and content.

Tomorrow hopefully I'll have time to get on and post pictures and videos that I took with my NEW digital camera that Dean got me!!! I'm so silly....but it's fun, and Alexandra has found the inner diva in her (apparently she NEEDS to have her picture taken and NEEDS to be in videos) But to tide you over here are my birthday cake pictures - and no I'm not in the pictures, it's my camera I get to take the pics!!!

Our Newest Addition!

Scarlett has arrived!!!!! She was born on Monday, June 1st at 5:06pm. Making her exactly 6 weeks early. She was 6lbs 6oz and 19 inches long. She is doing SOOOOO good!!! She continues to surprise everyone in the NICU. We're not sure how long she's going to be in there, but they are not ready to release me yet either so, we're both making the hospital our new home for a bit. Everyone seems really impressed with all that she's able to do. She is not on any machines and is doing great with her breathing and keeping her own temperature. She is VERY red though.....so living up to her name! Her red blood cell count was in the 60's when she was born, so we've been anticipating her needing to go under the billirubin lights, which they just started. A Year of Horrible

I have debated writing/telling people about this because it's not completely my story, but then again, it is, because I'm living through it as the mom.  So as a friend and/or family member reading this, please remember that I'm entrusting you with sensitive thoughts.  And yes I know this is also on the internet, so anyone could read it as well.  But I also know that I needed a place to write all of this down and get it recorded.  It will help me as I sort though all we are going through and it could possibly help others. This last year has been horrific.  Really and truly there isn't another word for it.  I didn't realize how much trauma I have truly been through until yesterday when I was on Facebook and I was looking at posts from other moms of their kiddos starting middle school.  Now I know middle school is bad.  I went through it already with Riley, but Alexandra was a whole new playing field.  Seeing those pictures I had a literal awf...

My Irrational Fears

Now maybe this is normal, but since I'm not really sure what a "normal" pregnancy should be I have no idea. But lately I have worries about everything. Mostly it has to do with the baby being born healthy. When I told Dean about them the other night, he was like "Wow, I had no idea you had that much that you were worried about". So here's my list. #1 - Driving in the car. It scares me to death now. I really have no reason for it to scare me since I have never had a car accident. But every time I'm behind the wheel all I can think about is what if someone hits me. I'm wearing a seat belt and that could hurt the baby. If the airbag goes off, that could hurt the baby. Let alone if it's a really bad accident.... #2 - I can't open any of the stuff we've bought for the baby. And this is so unlike me, I love to open stuff and put it together. But this time all I can think of is I can't open it, what if something happens to the baby. We can...
