Tuesday at the Zoo

So I had promised the girls that we would go to the zoo during spring break, but we had to go on the days that Dean was off from work (so he could push me in a wheelchair). Which meant either 30 degree Monday or 40 degree Tuesday. So we chose Tuesday. Unfortunately not only was it 40 degrees, it was windy, and not a nice warm spring wind, no a holy crap that is cold wind. I have never gone through the zoo so quickly (thank goodness we have a zoo membership so it's free!) It was fun though because a lot of the animals were up and moving, especially all the cats and hyenas. We only got through about 2/3's of the zoo before both girls decided they were done. We did get to see the elephants up close since they had them inside and the girls thought that was fun. Especially watching one of the elephants sucking up water with his trunk. It was so loud, and he kept flicking his trunk around, I seriously thought he might spray us (or the other elephant).

Scarlett has arrived!!!!! She was born on Monday, June 1st at 5:06pm. Making her exactly 6 weeks early. She was 6lbs 6oz and 19 inches long. She is doing SOOOOO good!!! She continues to surprise everyone in the NICU. We're not sure how long she's going to be in there, but they are not ready to release me yet either so, we're both making the hospital our new home for a bit. Everyone seems really impressed with all that she's able to do. She is not on any machines and is doing great with her breathing and keeping her own temperature. A Year of Horrible

I have debated writing/telling people about this because it's not completely my story, but then again, it is, because I'm living through it as the mom.  So as a friend and/or family member reading this, please remember that I'm entrusting you with sensitive thoughts.  And yes I know this is also on the internet, so anyone could read it as well.  But I also know that I needed a place to write all of this down and get it recorded.  It will help me as I sort though all we are going through and it could possibly help others. My Irrational Fears

Now maybe this is normal, but since I'm not really sure what a "normal" pregnancy should be I have no idea. But lately I have worries about everything. Mostly it has to do with the baby being born healthy. When I told Dean about them the other night, he was like "Wow, I had no idea you had that much that you were worried about". So here's my list. #1 - Driving in the car. It scares me to death now. I really have no reason for it to scare me since I have never had a car accident. But every time I'm behind the wheel all I can think about is what if someone hits me. I'm wearing a seat belt and that could hurt the baby. If the airbag goes off, that could hurt the baby. Let alone if it's a really bad accident.... #2 - I can't open any of the stuff we've bought for the baby. And this is so unlike me, I love to open stuff and put it together. But this time all I can think of is I can't open it, what if something happens to the baby. We can...
