Happy 1 Week Birthday

On Monday the girls came out to see Scarlett and wish her a happy one week birthday. They have both been getting over colds (Dean too) so they haven't gotten to see her very much. This was the first time that they got to hold her. Riley was still coughing every once in a while so we had her wear a mask just in case, plus Dean wasn't feeling 100% either, so hence his mask too.















Scarlett is doing really good. She continues to progress, but every once in a while she regresses (which is supposedly normal for a 34 weeker). She's almost back to birth weight, but last night she lost 10 grams (not a lot, but enough of a regression that they are upping her to 24 calorie formula to add to the milk I'm pumping). Every one keeps telling me that she will all of the sudden be better and then 24 hours later she'll get to go home, and I keep getting my hopes up on the days that she is doing great only to have them get knocked down on the days she doesn't do as well. I've been going out for 4 of her 8 feedings a day, but I'm starting to feel really worn down, so I might drop that to 3. But I hate to do that too, because I don't want to leave her out there by herself......and now I'm crying (again) so I'm just going to end this post.

    I love these pics! Riley is so serious about being the big sister, and Alexandra is just cute. I'm sure that you all cannot wait to have Scarlett home, she's so adorable! All in good time, keep your chin up, we are praying for you!

Our Newest Addition!

Scarlett has arrived!!!!! She was born on Monday, June 1st at 5:06pm. Making her exactly 6 weeks early. She was 6lbs 6oz and 19 inches long. She is doing SOOOOO good!!! She continues to surprise everyone in the NICU. We're not sure how long she's going to be in there, but they are not ready to release me yet either so, we're both making the hospital our new home for a bit. Everyone seems really impressed with all that she's able to do. She is not on any machines and is doing great with her breathing and keeping her own temperature. She is VERY red though.....so living up to her name! Her red blood cell count was in the 60's when she was born, so we've been anticipating her needing to go under the billirubin lights, which they just started. A Year of Horrible

I have debated writing/telling people about this because it's not completely my story, but then again, it is, because I'm living through it as the mom.  So as a friend and/or family member reading this, please remember that I'm entrusting you with sensitive thoughts.  And yes I know this is also on the internet, so anyone could read it as well.  But I also know that I needed a place to write all of this down and get it recorded.  It will help me as I sort though all we are going through and it could possibly help others. My Irrational Fears

Now maybe this is normal, but since I'm not really sure what a "normal" pregnancy should be I have no idea. But lately I have worries about everything. Mostly it has to do with the baby being born healthy. When I told Dean about them the other night, he was like "Wow, I had no idea you had that much that you were worried about". So here's my list. #1 - Driving in the car. It scares me to death now. I really have no reason for it to scare me since I have never had a car accident. But every time I'm behind the wheel all I can think about is what if someone hits me. I'm wearing a seat belt and that could hurt the baby. If the airbag goes off, that could hurt the baby. Let alone if it's a really bad accident.... #2 - I can't open any of the stuff we've bought for the baby. And this is so unlike me, I love to open stuff and put it together.
