Riley's Awards

Today was awards day for the first trimester at school. They do this for 3rd - 6th grade. (It was also pajama day....who's idea was that???)

The kids can receive an Academic Award for having B's or better on their report card, or a Principals Honor Roll Award for having all A's. Also the teachers have a few nomination awards for their class. And the specials teachers have nominations for the grades. Riley received an Academic Award. She also received a Teacher Nomination from her teacher for "showing excellent acts of kindness, good citizenship, and classroom behavior". There were only 3 kids from her class chosen for this award. She also received a Teacher Nomination from the Art teacher for "Outstanding citizenship and achievement in Art". Only 2 4th graders received an award for Art.


I'm very proud of my Riley! This report card was the best I've seen from her and I'm so glad that her teachers recognized her for all her hard work and also for being the loving and kind Riley that I know!

    It is good that the teachers recognize what we've always seen in Riley. And it's good for Riley to have public recognition that all her beautiful qualities are noticed and appreciated. Keep up the good work my Bug!

    Cortney.. I just wanted to say thank you so much for your comments on my blog and for your support! I appreciate you sharing your experience with me. I did go back and read some of your older posts about Bfeeding and it helped me to know that I'm not alone in my struggles. You are right in the fact that we have to make decisions for our babies and do our very best! Thanks again for sharing your thoughts with me!

Scarlett has arrived!!!!! She was born on Monday, June 1st at 5:06pm. Making her exactly 6 weeks early. She was 6lbs 6oz and 19 inches long. She is doing SOOOOO good!!! She continues to surprise everyone in the NICU. We're not sure how long she's going to be in there, but they are not ready to release me yet either so, we're both making the hospital our new home for a bit. A Year of Horrible

I have debated writing/telling people about this because it's not completely my story, but then again, it is, because I'm living through it as the mom.  So as a friend and/or family member reading this, please remember that I'm entrusting you with sensitive thoughts.  And yes I know this is also on the internet, so anyone could read it as well.  But I also know that I needed a place to write all of this down and get it recorded.  It will help me as I sort though all we are going through and it could possibly help others. My Irrational Fears

Now maybe this is normal, but since I'm not really sure what a "normal" pregnancy should be I have no idea. But lately I have worries about everything. Mostly it has to do with the baby being born healthy. When I told Dean about them the other night, he was like "Wow, I had no idea you had that much that you were worried about". So here's my list. #1 - Driving in the car. It scares me to death now. I really have no reason for it to scare me since I have never had a car accident. But every time I'm behind the wheel all I can think about is what if someone hits me. I'm wearing a seat belt and that could hurt the baby. If the airbag goes off, that could hurt the baby. Let alone if it's a really bad accident.... #2 - I can't open any of the stuff we've bought for the baby. And this is so unlike me, I love to open stuff and put it together. But this time all I can think of is I can't open it, what if something happens to the baby. We can...
