Thank you Meredith!! And here goes! 1. My 2 nd toe is longer then my big toe. I feel it makes my feet look beautiful, although Dean calls them my mutant toes. (He's really just jealous) One time I heard that people with a longer 2 nd toe are very intelligent! 2. I'm VERY competitive at board games. I must win at all costs!!! So I have determined that I can never play Monopoly with my girls. It's my favorite game, but I'm ruthless and mean. Not a good combination when you're trying to be a loving mother. 3. I always wished I had curly hair. When I was little my mom used to perm it all the time for me. Yay for home perms!!! But because my hair is so thick and apparently likes being straight, they never lasted very long. The last perm I had was in 9 th grade. I think I just gave up after that, although that's about the time I started dying my hair.......Black is still my all time favorite! 4. Apparently I have a hostile uterus. It doesn't like...

Another great day at Joy School

Today was another great lesson by yours truly!! I really enjoyed teaching this week. It was a great time and the kids were great! Today part of our snack time was about popping popcorn. I was supposed to have an old fashioned popper to do it, but couldn't find one anywhere. I couldn't even find an air popper. (I only looked at thrift stores...there was no way I was shelling out $20 for a popcorn popper at the store) And since I didn't think that 4 year olds would like watching my microwave I bought one of the Jiffypop pans that you do on the stove and it was great!! The kids had a blast. They had no idea what we were going to be making and as the tin foil got bigger and bigger they were all asking if it was going to explode! They loved that they got to eat it! And you know what, it wasn't that bad for being cooked on the stove in a tin foil pop up thing! We read the story of Caps for Sale. Now the lesson said to have caps and reenact the story with the kids. Well, I do...

Learning with my girls

So last Friday I got to go on a field trip with Riley to the Lookout Mountain Nature Center. It was a good time, but I was not prepared for a mini hike. The kids seemed to have a good time though. I only had 2 girls in my group, because we had 9 parents go on the field trip (which is a huge number). I did get tired of telling Riley that she couldn't pick the flowers. She wouldn't listen to me until one of the guides told them to stop picking stuff. This is a picture of her and some of her friends in class after we had eaten lunch. This is a picture of the kids pretending to be a flower while the guide has a bee puppet go from flower to flower. This was probably their favorite part of the day (although this is the mean guide that told them to stop picking stuff.... hehehe ) And this poor kid (he had to stand like that for a good 10 minutes) got to be a ponderosa pine tree. I must say that it was a learning experience - even for me! I learned that ponderosa pine trees ar...

Dean is Medium!

You can tell that school is in session.....too many germs are coming home with my girls. They were sick last week and now I'm sick too. I hate being sick. I wish there was a shot you could get to never ever be sick ever again. Even if you had to have it every week, I'd be all for it! When I get sick it just seems to last forever, my immune system is just too slow. So today in Relief Society we were talking about trials and why we have them. I was thinking to myself, my trial today is that I had to get up this morning and go to church (because I didn't feel good). And then someone mentioned that a lot of the trials we go through are ones that we do to ourselves, not ones that Heavenly Father gives us. And then I felt that my trial of getting up today was one I created myself. I say this because last week (when it was my birthday) I had been up late Saturday night because we had family in town and I decided that since it was my birthday I was gonna sleep in. (I kno...

First Field Trip

So today was Alexandra's first field trip with her Joy School class. They got to go to an Albertson's and have a tour. They had a great time, little things are always cool to 3 and 4 year olds. Here is her class in front of the lobster tank. They got out a lobster for them to see. None of the kids wanted to get anywhere near the lobster. Eventually Alexandra did pet it, but she was so quick I couldn't get a picture. They got to go back in the bakery and watch some cookies get decorated. They were so funny, everytime the baker would get a different color of frosting they would all say how it was their favorite color. And they all got to be pretend cashiers! Alexandra had a little trouble though she kept putting her hand on the bar code so that it couldn't scan. They did get to go back behind the store through all the coolers and stuff. And at the end they had little bags of treats for them. They got a juice box, cheese stick, apple, and a couple of pieces of can...

You know your kids like school way to much when...

So this morning when the alarm clock rang, Dean told me that he had heard Riley coughing all night and didn't think she'd be well enough for school. So I went into her room and woke her up and asked how she was feeling - "Great!" was her reply. So I got all of the clothes together and got ready myself then had the girls come downstairs for breakfast. As they were eating breakfast all I hear is coughing and sneezing and snuffling from both of them. So they get done eating and come into the living room to get dressed and Alexandra's nose is so runny and she feels like she's running a low grade temp. So I ask her if she feels sick and wants to stay home today. She adamantly says she is fine and wants to go to school. So after getting them both dressed and their hair done, and going through probably 10 tissues in this short period of time, I veto both of them and tell them they are not going to school today. Which upsets both of them.....whatever happened ...

Crazy Camera Lady

I am soooo tired. When you are used to going to bed at 9:00ish and then you don't go to bed till midnightish...not the best idea. I had a great time going to the movies with my sisters-in-law and niece. We went and saw The Women. It was an ok flick, but it was made all the more better by the company. I still had to be up super early this morning too, because I volunteered in Riley's class today. Which was a good time, although I felt like a horrible parent at the end. Riley woke up coughing and had a runny nose this morning and I thought she was just faking how bad it was (plus she only has 3 days of school this week) so I made her get ready and go, and by the time my volunteer time was up she was feeling pretty crappy and was starting to run a temperature. So she got to go home with me. Poor thing. So it was a great day yesterday! As I may have already mentioned. The one thing I really wanted I got (the camera) and I got some money to get other things I want (books, and maybe ...
