Hey I tried!

Image
Monday we tried to go to the Art Museum (again thank you library for the free tickets!). But apparently I don't know how to read a schedule....because the museum is closed on Mondays. So we decided to try going down to the Mint to see if we could take a tour...of course it closes at 1:30. So now that we are already paying for parking and the girls are on the verge of crying because we aren't doing anything. We decide to go to the 16th Street Mall. We rode the free bus! Woot! And then we spent time in the Tattered Cover Book Store. The girls had fun reading books and playing with the toys while I fed Scarlett. The we got a drink from Jamba Juice. Then we rode the free bus again. Then we went home. Now I felt like the day was a complete waste, but the girls assured me that they had a great time. Here are the only pictures I took. They are some statues outside the museum. I refused to take any pictures at the 16th street mall...there are some scary people around. Riley saw some gi...

Scarlett's Blessing Day

Image
Sunday was Scarlett's Blessing day. It was a great day and very spiritual. My grandparents were able to come up from Idaho to be here for it. Which made me (and the girls) super happy! Here is Scarlett after we put her dress on her. My mom has crocheted all of the girls their blessing dresses. Of course after we got it on her she immediately yacked on it! Here is us and my parents. Here is us and my grandparents. Here is us and both sets of our parents. Here is Pop and Scarlett. And this is probably my favorite picture of the day!! I love how they are looking at each other! Here she is winking. Yeah, she's already that talented! Here are my other two! They both got new dresses made by Grammy! (I had to promise to not wash off her Pikachu tattoo in order to get her to bathe Saturday night) And here are all of my three lovely girls!

Library Summer Reading Programs

Image
Saturday was the last day of the summer reading program at the library (or should I say libraries...we do two libraries cuz I have two different ones close to me - so more free stuff for us to do!) One of the libraries has a party on the last day. The kids get to make crafts and play and pick out their book for their final reward. The crafts the girls got to do this year included making masks, making dancing streamers, making a noise shaker (paper plate folded in half with beans in it), and making a creative pocket (old library pockets for due date cards being recycled as book marker holders). They also got to splatter paint on huge paper, draw with sidewalk chalk, and get a tattoo. Riley said that this year was the best ever! Here are pictures of them with their masks and streamers. I forgot the camera so I didn't get any pictures at the library. Here's Alexandra's tattoo. Now while you might think "Harry Potter", those of you who know Alexandra know that...

Roller Skating and New Glasses

Image
Here is my flower child! She was very crafty with some string and a flower from the backyard. We picked up Riley's new glasses on Wednesday. Her old ones got lost on the 4 th of July. She took them off to bounce on the trampoline and we have never been able to find them. Luckily I was able to get her into the eye doctor (usually they are booked solid the weeks before school starts) and she got to pick out her new pair. They look cute on her and she really likes them. Plus they are "Rock Star Red!" Which is more of a pinky color to me...but it sounds cooler to say "Rock Star Red!" Wednesday we also went roller skating. Thanks again free library coupons!! Riley has been a couple times for birthday parties but this was Alexandra's first time skating. The first time around the rink (holding my hand) she told me "I am not having a fun time." So we went around to the exit and she went out for a bit on the carpet, then we went back in and s...

Yesterday was my postpartum check-up. My blood pressure is back to normal! 122/68! I did have blood drawn to check and make sure that my hematocrit is back to normal. I will find out about that probably tomorrow. I'm down to only 4 more pounds to lose till I'm back to prepregnancy weight! Which is awesome since I haven't been exercising at all. I also had to take a little test to check for postpartum depression (which came back fine). I have to say though that this is the best I've ever felt after a pregnancy. I don't know if it's because I'm already on Prozac, or because I'm getting more sleep since she's a bottle baby, or just the combination of the two. I must say it is so nice to roll over and tap Dean on the shoulder and say "It's your turn". I never could do that with the other two, and it's been amazing! Plus Dean has been amazing by being willing to get up when I tap him! Plus we've been able to go and do things - like...

Unconditional Love

Last night, well more accurately early this morning, while I was up feeding Scarlett, I was just hit by how much I love this little girl. And it just struck me as odd how that works. We just automatically love our babies. It's what helps us get up at 2 in the morning to feed them. It's what makes cleaning up baby poop not that horrible. Don't get me wrong, it's still gross, but I wouldn't be cleaning up after anyone else. It's what helps us survive colic (Jami you're amazing!) It makes the horrible side effects from pregnancy and labor seem not that bad. I must admit thinking I was in the worst pain ever during the end of labor, but yet now I can't really remember exactly how horrible it was. I remember thinking it was horrible...but not remembering the actual pain. (Which is how most of us end up getting pregnant more then once...) I find it odd, because when anyone else enters our lives we have to get to know them before we even just like the...

Funny Faces

Image
So I was trying to be the "good mom" and take more pictures this week, but Scarlett just wouldn't pose for "pretty pictures". But these just make me laugh, so I thought I'd share them with you. "Let me outta here!!" "Please no more pictures!" "Help!!!! Alexandra's got me!!!" "Ahhhh! There's my thumb!" "Okay Mom, that's enough!"
