Busy Week
Goodness! Last week was incredibly busy. We were trying to cram everything in before school starts - TOMORROW!! Riley is so excited. She will find out tonight at Back to School night who her new teacher is. I'm excited for school to start as well, although I would really have liked a few more weeks of summer. I'm just able to get more done when Riley is in school though. We're probably gonna do Joy School with Alexandra this year too (we're still waiting to hear from the mom who's been in charge of it for years). She will have a blast if we're able to do it. She just wants lots of friends her age - when I tell her I'm her friend she gives me this look and says she doesn't want grown-up friends.
Last week we went bowling. The girls love it. I completely suck at it. So since they get to use bumpers, they usually beat me. Riley told me this time she thought I should get to use the bumpers too. What can I say - the gutter just has this magnetic attraction to my ball....
Dean of course beat us all. His bowling skills come from "throwing the ball as hard as I can, so the pins bounce everywhere". Well even that didn't help me, it just made the ball go into the gutter faster...although one time it bounced out of the gutter and hit 4 pins!!!
We've been swimming lots too this summer. We got a 6 month pass for our rec center and it has been a blast. Riley is learning how to swim (with the help of Dean and Grammy). She loves to be under the water. Alexandra is even learning how a little bit at a time. Last time we went she was putting her head under the water and then walking around until she could find one of us. She was waving her arms too - so she was "swimming". At least my girls don't seem to have my fear of water, not that I don't have a good reason for it. Dean still laughs at me in the shower because I hate washing my face....
We went to our Ward Camp Out this weekend. Dean had to work, so it was just me and the girls. They had a blast. Although Alexandra kept asking when the camp out was going to start... Everyone kept telling me I was so brave for bringing the girls up all by myself. The braveness wasn't being alone with the girls...it was the actual camping. I hate bugs - and camping means bugs....so hence I'm not a big camping fan. But it was actually a really good time. We had a pretty good turn out. So luckily I had people to help me put up and take down the tent! Our tent ended up being the "Party tent". All of the little kids there loved to be in our tent. When I finally had to take it down and told the kids that they had to get out, one of the little girls asked if they could come back in their playhouse in a few minutes.
Riley has lost another tooth. She has become quite the expert at pulling her teeth out. They get just a little bit wiggly and she's all over them. This time though she was telling me as she's pushing and twisting her tooth "I've got to get this tooth out. I need the money."
I have a new favorite book series. The Twilight series!! It's awesome!! I read through the first three books in one week because I was going to the release party for book 4. The party was a blast! It was a vampire prom theme. The books are about vampires, but they are written by an LDS mom so they aren't very gory. Now I can't wait for the first movie to come out!
