IT'S DONE!!!
YEAH!!!! It's all over and done with and it was a success! I wish I had some pictures, but after the first day of school pictures, I wasn't sure I wanted to ask Dean to take some more (hehehe). Plus I was super busy so there was no way for me to take them. The girls had a blast! They won lots of prizes and had a great time. My feet and my back are killing me though. I did win two of the drawings! I won a soccer ball (it's a really cool one) and a book about fishes from Barnes & Nobles.
We had such a great turn out and you could see all the kids having so much fun. It really was worth all the headaches and effort that went into it. We did get to have the fire department and they brought a fire truck and an ambulance that the kids got to get up in and walk around and see all the inside stuff. Then they had a free spin wheel to win prizes. Both girls won little plastic fire helmets. Then we had two construction vehicles from the city and the kids got to get up inside and make all the scoops and stuff move. One of the vehicles they would put the scoop (yeah you can tell I don't have boys - I don't even know the names of this vehicle) on the ground and then make it keep pushing on the ground so it would lift up the front wheels off of the ground. And they gave the kids little plastic construction hats. We had a reverse dunk tank (where you sit in a chair and then when the target is hit water dumps on you) and the kids that wanted too got to be "dunked". They were having a blast. There were so many kids that were soaking wet running around. And then we had all the stuff from FunServices for the carnival games and food. The girls favorite booth was Jewelry Spin. They did that one so many times. You spin a wheel and whatever piece of jewelry it lands on you win. And the funny thing is there were tons of boys that did that one too. Most of them were winning jewelry for their moms. It was so cute. Alexandra said her other favorite was the jumpy castle. And Riley's was crossbow darts. They both had pizza and snow cones - which were yummy!!! I got to eat some of theirs when they had me hold them for a minute because they were "too cold". They both loved the duck pond too (pick a duck get a prize) although they won Chinese Yo-Yo's and I've been hit in the head so many times. They are sticks with paper wound around them and when you fling the paper out it comes right back, but they are really just weapons for wounding parents in the hands of 4 year olds. The first time I got hit, Alexandra came running up to me yelling "Look what I won" and whack right in the face.
So all-in-all, totally worth it, but horribly hard work. Not sure I want to be in charge next year, but I would still help out. Only the excitement and happiness of all of the kids faces make it worth the time and effort it took to make it happen. (Winning two drawings helps too)
