Conference
I loved Conference this weekend. It just felt like a breath of fresh air, compared to all the worldly woes and problems that have been happening lately. I loved that a lot of the talks were about hope and not being afraid or in despair. Those were the talks that really stood out to me anyway. I loved Elder Wirthlin's talk the most. He looked so much better then he has in a long time. And I loved that he told funny stories!! I loved the one about the blind date the best. For those of you who didn't get to see conference or just want to see this talk again, here ya go!
The girls did really good with listening to most of the conference sessions. It helped that they got to play conference bingo. My mom and I made cards a couple of years ago that are better then the ones we had when we were little. I loved conference bingo! I'd play for all 4 sessions and get tons of treats to last me for a while. We always played with snacks, M&M's, skittles, almonds, Wheat thins and such things like that. And when you got a bingo you got to eat (or store) all the treats on your card. Even now every time I watch conference I crave Wheat thins.

Here are pictures of some of the cards, in case any one wants to borrow the idea!
Junior Primary card
Senior Primary Card
YW/YM card
There are 8 cards per set I think and only the junior primary cards have the same words on each card. The hardest part was finding stickers for them all (but my mom did most of the sticker searching). It has been fun watching Riley as she has gotten older and can really do this on her own. I love the fact that it makes them listen to the talks, plus it helps to get them to sit still and be quiet.

I was going to talk about politics next, but now I don't want too. See even just writing about watching conference makes life better and takes your mind off of stressful things. Maybe tomorrow I'll post about election stuff.
That's so cool! At least they might pick up a little of what is said! :) Very good idea, think I'll steal it from ya!
ReplyDeleteBTW, I totally agree with you on the politics stuff. I had such a spiritual high coming out of Conference Weekend that I have no desire to even watch the news. I LOVE THE GOSPEL!
ReplyDeleteCourt! I loved Elder Wirthlin's talk too. He's so stink'n cute. :) Glad you had fun.
