Lakeside 2010

Thanks to our libraries summer reading program we had free tickets to one of the amusement parks here again. There are several other posts about this park - since we go at least once a summer. Some of you may remember my I'm A Dork post....



Anyways - yay for free things!!



This year Alexandra was still as wimpy as ever. She hardly rode any rides at all. Thank goodness it was free......



Riley on the other hand was finally brave and went on several of the bigger rides. She did have a blast in kiddie land, but I'm afraid she's getting very close to being too big for most of those rides. She went on The Whip and found that it is her new favorite ride.





She went on the scrambler again with me (she tried this a couple of years ago and hated it), but this time she loved it.



She went on a couple of rides with Dean that I wouldn't go on (since they leave the ground). She had a total blast and can't wait to go again.


I would have taken more pictures but it was sprinkling on and off the whole night and I can't handle and umbrella and a camera at the same time.


On a side note - the rain made it awesome! Since it was mostly only sprinkling and very rarely, the temperature was PERFECT!!! No standing and roasting in lines!!! Plus since it wasn't hot I didn't have the girls begging for drinks and ice cream!

Our Newest Addition!

Scarlett has arrived!!!!! She was born on Monday, June 1st at 5:06pm. Making her exactly 6 weeks early. She was 6lbs 6oz and 19 inches long. She is doing SOOOOO good!!! She continues to surprise everyone in the NICU. We're not sure how long she's going to be in there, but they are not ready to release me yet either so, we're both making the hospital our new home for a bit. Everyone seems really impressed with all that she's able to do. She is not on any machines and is doing great with her breathing and keeping her own temperature. She is VERY red though.....so living up to her name! Her red blood cell count was in the 60's when she was born, so we've been anticipating her needing to go under the billirubin lights, which they just started. My Irrational Fears

Now maybe this is normal, but since I'm not really sure what a "normal" pregnancy should be I have no idea. But lately I have worries about everything. Mostly it has to do with the baby being born healthy. When I told Dean about them the other night, he was like "Wow, I had no idea you had that much that you were worried about". So here's my list. #1 - Driving in the car. It scares me to death now. I really have no reason for it to scare me since I have never had a car accident. But every time I'm behind the wheel all I can think about is what if someone hits me. I'm wearing a seat belt and that could hurt the baby. If the airbag goes off, that could hurt the baby. Let alone if it's a really bad accident.... #2 - I can't open any of the stuff we've bought for the baby. And this is so unlike me, I love to open stuff and put it together. But this time all I can think of is I can't open it, what if something happens to the baby. We can...

A Year of Horrible

I have debated writing/telling people about this because it's not completely my story, but then again, it is, because I'm living through it as the mom.  So as a friend and/or family member reading this, please remember that I'm entrusting you with sensitive thoughts.  And yes I know this is also on the internet, so anyone could read it as well.  But I also know that I needed a place to write all of this down and get it recorded.  It will help me as I sort though all we are going through and it could possibly help others.
