Playing Catch Up Again!

So the next several posts will be me catching up. I know you'd think I would have more time in the summer.....so not true!!! Although I'm not really sure where the time went....especially since they start school in 3 weeks. Some of the posts will seem kind of short, but hey I only have so much time before I get pinched by a little one wanting me to pick her "UH!" (up) And yes she does pinch to get your attention. I suppose it's better then biting, but it still hurts horribly!



Just a quick Scarlett update. She is almost walking. She will do a couple of steps and then decide that crawling is much quicker. She has 8 teeth that are definitely though, and 2 more that I can see edges. I think she's getting some molars though...her gums have these huge swollen lumps that I'm assuming are molars, plus she cries if I try to touch them. She has gotten much better about eating. The last two weeks we have been braver and let her eat what we are eating some of the time. Tonight she had some fries, and while she gagged at one point she didn't throw up, so she's getting better!! She is determined to eat whatever I have though. If I am eating there must be something there for her. I have found that she loves Almond Joy candy bars (minus the Almonds). She still hasn't figured out the whole sippy cup thing, but I'm sure one day it'll click. She has several words, but she usually only says them once or twice and then won't say them again for a while. Her favorite phrase is "Wat dis?" as she points at stuff.

Our Newest Addition!

Scarlett has arrived!!!!! She was born on Monday, June 1st at 5:06pm. Making her exactly 6 weeks early. She was 6lbs 6oz and 19 inches long. She is doing SOOOOO good!!! She continues to surprise everyone in the NICU. We're not sure how long she's going to be in there, but they are not ready to release me yet either so, we're both making the hospital our new home for a bit. Everyone seems really impressed with all that she's able to do. She is not on any machines and is doing great with her breathing and keeping her own temperature. She is VERY red though.....so living up to her name! Her red blood cell count was in the 60's when she was born, so we've been anticipating her needing to go under the billirubin lights, which they just started. A Year of Horrible

I have debated writing/telling people about this because it's not completely my story, but then again, it is, because I'm living through it as the mom.  So as a friend and/or family member reading this, please remember that I'm entrusting you with sensitive thoughts.  And yes I know this is also on the internet, so anyone could read it as well.  But I also know that I needed a place to write all of this down and get it recorded.  It will help me as I sort though all we are going through and it could possibly help others. This last year has been horrific.  Really and truly there isn't another word for it.  I didn't realize how much trauma I have truly been through until yesterday when I was on Facebook and I was looking at posts from other moms of their kiddos starting middle school.  Now I know middle school is bad.  I went through it already with Riley, but Alexandra was a whole new playing field.  Seeing those pictures I had a literal awf...

My Irrational Fears

Now maybe this is normal, but since I'm not really sure what a "normal" pregnancy should be I have no idea. But lately I have worries about everything. Mostly it has to do with the baby being born healthy. When I told Dean about them the other night, he was like "Wow, I had no idea you had that much that you were worried about". So here's my list. #1 - Driving in the car. It scares me to death now. I really have no reason for it to scare me since I have never had a car accident. But every time I'm behind the wheel all I can think about is what if someone hits me. I'm wearing a seat belt and that could hurt the baby. If the airbag goes off, that could hurt the baby. Let alone if it's a really bad accident.... #2 - I can't open any of the stuff we've bought for the baby. And this is so unlike me, I love to open stuff and put it together.
