Christmas Tag

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags - Wrapping paper - I bought a huge roll at Sams Club 3 years ago for $7 and still have about half of it, kinda getting tired of the snowmen...but hey it was quite the bargain!

2. Real tree or Artificial - I'd love a real tree, but we have an artificial. I don't have the money to buy all the stuff for a real tree, let alone the tree itself, so I make do with what I have.

3. When do you put up the tree - Usually day after Thanksgiving, this year the Monday after Thanksgiving since Dean worked and wanted to do it too.

4. When do you take the tree down - sometime during the week after Christmas.

5. Do you like eggnog - Yes, but not as much as Riley. We bought a jug of it and Riley drank ALL of it within two days (I had no idea she was drinking it).

6. Favorite gift received as a child - Toss up between the best barbie in the whole world that my sister destroyed (yeah never forgiving you for that one) or my twin cabbage patch dolls.

7. Hardest person to buy for - My dad. I never know what he wants, so it's usually a movie or some clothes.

8. Easiest person to buy for - The girls. They tell me exactly what they want (not that they end up getting it)

9. Do you have a nativity scene - Yes, several. We only put out the Little People one though so the girls and any other little ones visiting can play with them.

10. Mail or email Christmas cards - Mail, when I take the time to do it - only happens every couple of years....maybe I should start emailing...

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received - I'm sure there is one somewhere, but I can't remember any.
12. Favorite Christmas Movie - Miracle on 34th Street

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas - Usually after my birthday in September.

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present - No

16. Colored or Clear Lights - Depends on the ornaments, if neutral ornaments then colored lights, but colored ornaments then white lights. Or whatever happens to be in the Christmas box.

17. Favorite Christmas song - Carol of the Bells (I have loved this song ever since we sang it in choir in high school)

18. Travel at Christmas or stay home - If I have the money I would love to travel, there are lots of family members I would want to see, but it's usually stay home.

19. Angel on the tree top or a star - Angel

20. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning - one present Christmas Eve, the rest Christmas morning - except for this year

21. Favorite ornament theme or color - don't really have one

22. White or Warm Christmas - White

23. Favorite Christmas Tradition - being together as a family

24. Favorite Christmas Location - used to be Evanston, WY but then Nan and Pop had to move....

Our Newest Addition!

Scarlett has arrived!!!!! She was born on Monday, June 1st at 5:06pm. Making her exactly 6 weeks early. She was 6lbs 6oz and 19 inches long. She is doing SOOOOO good!!! She continues to surprise everyone in the NICU. We're not sure how long she's going to be in there, but they are not ready to release me yet either so, we're both making the hospital our new home for a bit. Everyone seems really impressed with all that she's able to do. She is not on any machines and is doing great with her breathing and keeping her own temperature. She is VERY red though.....so living up to her name! Her red blood cell count was in the 60's when she was born, so we've been anticipating her needing to go under the billirubin lights, which they just started. Her number was still low (7.2), but we found out she is A+, and since I'm O+ there is an incompatibility, so they started her on the lights before she started to get worse. And now for the story.... A Year of Horrible

I have debated writing/telling people about this because it's not completely my story, but then again, it is, because I'm living through it as the mom.  So as a friend and/or family member reading this, please remember that I'm entrusting you with sensitive thoughts.  And yes I know this is also on the internet, so anyone could read it as well.  But I also know that I needed a place to write all of this down and get it recorded.  It will help me as I sort though all we are going through and it could possibly help others. This last year has been horrific.  Really and truly there isn't another word for it.  I didn't realize how much trauma I have truly been through until yesterday when I was on Facebook and I was looking at posts from other moms of their kiddos starting middle school.  Now I know middle school is bad.  I went through it already with Riley, but Alexandra was a whole new playing field.  Seeing those pictures I had a literal awf...

My Irrational Fears

Now maybe this is normal, but since I'm not really sure what a "normal" pregnancy should be I have no idea. But lately I have worries about everything. Mostly it has to do with the baby being born healthy. When I told Dean about them the other night, he was like "Wow, I had no idea you had that much that you were worried about". So here's my list. #1 - Driving in the car. It scares me to death now. I really have no reason for it to scare me since I have never had a car accident. But every time I'm behind the wheel all I can think about is what if someone hits me. I'm wearing a seat belt and that could hurt the baby. If the airbag goes off, that could hurt the baby. Let alone if it's a really bad accident.... #2 - I can't open any of the stuff we've bought for the baby. And this is so unlike me, I love to open stuff and put it together. But this time all I can think of is I can't open it, what if something happens to the baby. We can...
